- Nokia E71 Review @ GypsyBandito -- overall, a 6/10; but that would've been higher if I wasn't a video blogger.
- solid phone, really an upgrade for business men in suits that want good battery life. qik/seesmic/bambuser do work - philcampbell.
- Sexy for the business crowd, doesn't really work as a creative content producer -- Ms. Jen.

Around Helsinki
September 11 (formal program starts at 20:00)
Anybody else besides Roland going to be there early on the 11th?
Yeah, Steve is going to be there around 9am. Roland - Cool, we'll hang out for the Nokia Store, Nokia House Visit and cycling and countryside perhaps!
I'll be there early too. We'll probably be able to meet up at breakfast (see schedule below). My Finnish friend is gonna come to the hotel around 11am to take me around. We can make a group of it or just see what happens. - Micki - Roland, See you at Breakfast, hopefully!
[Thej] I will reach by 1pm. Anybody for lunch?
Roland's tentative September 11 program
(any or all of the following)
- bicycling or walking tour of the city - Roland, I'd be up for biking around. Depending on the time, maybe even trying to get out into the countryside some (Steve).
- informal tour of Nokia House in Espoo organized by Stefan C and Jussi! Sign me up please! (Rahul +1)
- Nokia Flagship Store in Helsinki (a MUST since i have a shopping list of things to buy! GPS and DT-22 Tripod Adapters are MUST buys for me)
- bicycling around the city
- Kiasma Museum as suggested by Micki!
- Getting a Pay as you Go SIM for my mobile at a Elisa shop and ask for a "Kolumbus" prepaid sim card. You can get unlimited 3G for a week for only 6,90 eur, yay! according to awesome mobile blogger Stefan (Nick - according to the email I got from WOMWorld, Nokia will be providing us with a SIM card for the duration of the event.)
- Any other musts? (Best place for an espresso? Best bike shop? Best gadget place? Best place for a Finnish moment (whatever that is, that's not in a sauna :-) ! ? )?
What are you doing with your free time?
I have a friend who lives in Finland and has offered up some suggestions. Let me know if you want to do any of these things and we can put a little group together. - Micki
- Group sauna with free software nerds? Apparently this is very popular in Finland. "In the sauna it is a faux pas to wear clothing in the hot room, although it is acceptable to sit on a small towel or pefletti, a disposable tissue designed to endure heat and humidity (it can be mandatory in a public sauna, such as one in a swimming hall). While cooling off it is quite common to wrap a towel around your body. Though mixed saunas are quite common, the sauna, for a typical Finn, is a completely non-sexual place" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_sauna - (Roland +1 on this!) (Mike - a Finnish sauna is a must do, count me in) (Eddie +1) - ROLAND - Nokia has put the sauna on our itinerary 17:00-19:00 on the 12th so I might go for that assuming the sauna is a good one, (Thej + 1) (Steve +1)
- Kiasma museum of contemporary art is a "must see" http://www.kiasma.fi/index.php?id=11&L=1&FL=0 - Roland (+1 on this) (Nick +1, I really want to see this) (Thej +1 ) (Steve +1)
- Heureka is a geeky science center, all kinds of exhibits trying to expose people (largely kids) to neat science. Half an hour drive from Helsinki, expect to spend a few hours there easily if you decide to want to go. Overly geeky but if that's acceptable, it's pretty neat. Large part of audience is kids, say 8-12 yo.
http://www.heureka.fi/portal/englanti/
- Suomenlinna is a nice big fortress (not one big building, a series of fortifications) on islands close to Helsinki, short ferry ride over. Very popular picnic site on pretty days. The buildings there are mostly crafts shops these days. It's a big area, takes a few hours to walk around.

- There's some areas of pretty nature close by (max 2 miles from city center), though seeing a real forest would require nearly an hour-long drive. Kinda hard to find anything about them in English, but Finnish wikipedia has some pics, if nothing else. Seurasaari also functions as an outdoor museum, with buildings preserved from 17th century onwards. Getting to either will probably require a short ferry/boat ride.

Reading from the event agenda, it looks all the activities will revolve around the Hotel Facility.. So I will include the Nokia House a must visit.. www.ark.fi/ark1_98/nokia_e.html

I've heard that the open-air market in central Helsinki is a great attraction and worth checking out. Should be pretty easy to get to, as well. Plus, it shure looks purty. :) - Nick

Helsinki is known for its contemporary Art Scene right now. Two of my LA/NYC artist friends' had residencies in Finland this summer, so I am going to find out what galleries are not to be missed. Finland is also, next to LA, one of the big rockabilly scenes in the world, a DJ friend is going to get club names for me. - Ms. Jen - Roland +1 - I love Rockabilly, Lindy Hop, swing music, jazz, etc, love to go briefly to a rockabilly gig! I'm an old man so I don't stay up too late though !
-
Nokia Flagship Store (Carol - I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet!) - Roland +1, i have a whole list of things to buy like a bluetooth GPS and some DT-22 tripod adapters if they have any!
